Come round for Christmas

A 'card in the round' for Christmas from me today.  I used a Kraft card base and layered with 3 mats of card - 2 square in red and green and 1 round diecut in Kraft card.

I then stamped a number of mini Christmas stamps in dye ink colours which were also diecut before applying on foam pads.

The central sentiment was also stamped and diecut and coloured with alcohol markers.  Final touch was to add some crystal stickers on the embellishments.

Krafty Cheer

Here is another Christmas card I have made.  Again using a Kraft card base.  I have matted the green Christmas tree background paper onto red card to leave a border on the base card.

The animals were diecut from the same red card and stuck in place.  I then cut some self adhesive cork sheet into an undulating shape and stuck this over the base of the animal diecut.

I then stamped the sentiment in onyx black Memento onto white card, trimmed to size and stuck in place.

Simple but effective I think as I have gone back to the traditional Christmas colours for this one.

Jolly Hollydays

Well here is yet another Christmas card I have crafted,  It started with a 6 x 6 Kraft card.  I then cut a mat out of stripey paper and matted it onto red card which was then adhered to the front of the card.

I then made the greetings plate by stamping on some pale blue card the 'Happy Holidays' words in Versafine onyx black ink.  This was trimmed out and matted with a slightly larger card mat in red. This was stuck in place on foam pads for relief.

Finally the pre-made holly leaves and berries were adhered on foam pads to finish.

Poinsettia Present

Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without the beautiful Poinsettia radiating that warm red and vibrant green which represent the true colours of this coming Season.  This card uses the colours and image of this plant. I started with a square Kraft Card Base and cut a mat out of Christmas Carol musical printed paper. I also cut a piece of red card and matted this on some green card. Onto this I stamped random snowflakes in black archival ink.  This was applied as shown centrally over the music paper.

The central banner was made from 3 mats in green, red and kraft.  The kraft layer was stamped in archival black with a double chevron stamp. I applied some white Posca pen to highlight the chevron. This was adhered over the first mats,

The Poinsettia image was cut from some printed paper and the central bit highlighted with Glossy Accents.  This was applied on foam pads to add depth.  The sentiment was stamped on kraft card, edged with red alcohol marker and stuck into place to finish.

Liberty Mug Rug

Quilting time again so this time I made a sampler mug rug. All the fabric is from Liberty and all are Lawn Prints.

I trimmed the fabrics, with a rotary cutter and a self healing mat, into 5 inch squares and machine sewed with a 1/4 inch seam allowance to form a four patch block.

I made my quilting sandwich using Warm & Natural batting and some plain cream 100% cotton backing.

I quilted with black thread in a 1 inch square pattern using the walking foot and the guide.

I then hand bound in pink.

I didn't realise how much I love the Liberty print collections and the quality of the print and thread count makes the fabrics really luxurious and smooth.

Must use more Liberty in future (just ordered a new sewing machine too !).

Yes Deer ..........

Now we are in December, Christmas is upon us so I have made this simple card.  I started with a Kraft card blank and cut a mat out of plain white card.  I rounded the edges with a corner chomper.

The white card was then embossed with a 'snow' folder and stamped with the sentiment in Versafine black ink.  The embossed mat was stuck in place on the card.  I used Stickles glitter glue on the embossing.

I then diecut a series of winter animals out of red card and adhered these, as shown, to finish.

Spicy Little Man !

This is my postcard for the UKStampers forum swap for November.  I started with some red card cut to 6 x 4 inches and stamped with a Lawn Fawn script stamp the words 'Merry Christmas' in Versamark ink.  I then used detail white embossing powder and heat set with a heat gun.

The gingerbread man was then diecut out of Kraft card with a Sizzix die through the BigShot.  I embellished his arms and legs with white card trimmed into strips with a pair of pinking shears and backed his eyes and mouth with a bit of scrap black card.

I used black and white Posca pens to decorate his eyes and add buttons and cut out a dickie bow in green patterned paper and adhered as shown.

I then edged the card with gold Krylon Pen and sprayed the completed card with matt acrylic lacquer to protect it through the post.

Hope the recipient likes him !

Halloween Postcard

Here is a postcard done as part of a swap over on UK Stampers Forum.  The theme this month was 'Orange & Purple' so I went a bit spooky with this one.

I started with a 6 x 4 inch orange board base and then used a variety of Stickers and borders from Graphic 45 to cover the base.  I also used Posca pens in black and white to doodle and dot as shown.

Only stamps used were alphas to stamp 'Trick or Treat' in Memento black ink.

Jewel Colours

Here is a card I made for the Less is More Challenge for this week which is 'Jewel Colours' . I couldn't resist making this card as the idea came to me just as I had woken first thing in the morning and I was determined to put thoughts into action.

I started with a square white card blank and chose a heart stamp which I stamped with Versafine black ink.

I then added a number of coloured silver backed cabochons stuck in place with glossy accents.

I then stamped the sentiment (PaperTrey Ink) in more Versafine.  The whole thing .......... so simple!

School Days .......

Over on UK Stampers Forum we have a monthly postcard swap, the September theme is 'School Days'.

I cut a piece of scrap white card into a 6 x 4 inch postcard blank and then used a number of 12 inch papers cut down to embellish the base.  I edged the components with barn door Distress Ink on cut'n'dry foam.

The boys image was stamped on more scrap card, coloured with alcohol ink markers and trimmed out.  I used a glue stick to adhere all of these.  I used a few stamps and black Memento ink to stamp the words (Papertrey Ink) and the border along with a bit of Micron pen doodling.

Finally I gave the whole thing a quick spray with matt acrylic sealer to protect it through the post naked !

Why don't you visit the Forum, become a member and join in?  It costs nothing and you will receive a stamped handcrafted postcard in return for your efforts !

Redwork Quilt

This is another quilt that has been a long time in the making !  The base squares are made from unbleached Calico and have first been machine embroidered in red thread with typical redwork designs.

These were then pieced following which the square motive was again machine embroidered (found it difficult to position).

I then quilted using a fusible cotton batting.  I quilted in double squares with more red thread.

The binding was given to me by a dear friend and matched the colourway very well.  This is the first quilt that I have hand bound but I managed quite well.  I machine washed the quilt and have left it creased as I like the effect.

Not perfect but glad it is finished.

Eye Eye !!

Here is a one layer card which meets the themed requirement of the Less is More blog challenge for week 236 which is 'The Eyes Have it !'

I started with a 4.5 x 4.5 inch plain white card blank and stamped this in Versafine using a Zettiology Stamp.  I then heat embossed with black opaque detail embossing powder.  I chose the stamp as I think the character on wheels has great eyes !

I then sparsely coloured with alcohol ink brush markers and underlined the wheels with a black micron pen to ground the image.  The sentiment was stamped in Versafine onyx black and is from Papertrey Ink.

Framed Postcard

This is a postcard that have made for the UK Stampers monthly swap for August.  The theme is to use a frame on your postcard. I started with a piece of white card 6 x 4 inches which I coloured with Distress Inks applied direct to the card. I used faded jeans and victorian velvet which I dried with a heat gun.  The base was stamped around the edges with a swirl stamp and Memento black ink.

I then stamped a face stamp from Crafty Individuals in Versamark ink and heat embossed this with a Moonglow embossing powder which is metallic (doesn't show very well on the photo).  I used Distress Stickles in victorian velvet to infill the un-embossed facial details and edged this with a silver Posca Marker.

The frame was cut from mountboard using a movers and shapers Die from Sizzix and this was painted with metallic acrylic paint in turquoise.  This was stuck over the embossed face image firmly with Glossy accents.  I applied some black Stazon on the same swirl stamp to embellish the corners of the frame.

Finishing touches were to add the printed words and edge with white Posca marker.  The whole thing was then sprayed with acrylic sealer as it will end up in the post naked !

Happy Hearts !

This one layer card started with a scalloped square card in cream.  I then chose a variety of colours in alcohol ink markers with a brush nib.  Randomly applying the colours to form a sort of colour matrix.

I then used a small heart stamp and stamped multiple times in Memento black ink over the colours and beyond.  The hearts were linked with dots of white Posca pen.

Finally I stamped the sentiment in the same Memento ink.  This card fits the bill for the Less is More challenge for week 235 whose colour challenge is to use 'berry shades'.

Underwater World

Over on UK Stampers Forum we have a very popular and successful monthly swap.  We call it a postcard swap and members have to make an arty postcard on a theme capable of being posted without any further protection to it's swap partners address !  The July theme is 'Underwater'. Why not visit and see what has been made so far?

I started my postcard by cutting a 6 x 4 inch piece of stout white card as the base.  Onto this I stuck a piece of Gelli Plate background I had made whilst playing with the plate and trimmed this to size.  I thought the colours looked very underwaterish (is that a word?).

I then used Stazon solvent inks and Memento dye inks to stamp a number of foliage stamps (Crafty Individuals), a fish stamp and the word stamp were also used (Third Coast).

I have also used Posca pens to colour in parts of the word and the little shoal of fishes.  Once complete I edged the card with Versamark ink and heat embossed with dark blue embossing powder.

Finally I sprayed the whole thing with a matt acrylic sealant to protect it when sent through the post. Don't know who will get it yet until the end of the month.

I used a white square card blank and stamped with Artemio stamps the union jack in Memento ladybug and paris dusk inks.

The sentiment was then stamped in Versafine black ink using a Papertrey Ink stamp.

My Favourite Place !

Here is a clean and simple card featuring stamps by Alice Palace via Crafty Individuals. This fits the March Challenge from the Crafty Individuals Blog whose title this month is 'The Animal World' and also the Less Is More Challenge for this week (215) which has to be one layer and feature 'Animals'

I started with a 5 x 5 inch white card blank and the stamp of the geese which I used to make a mask.  I then stamped the geese in Memento black ink and masked off before overstamping with a swirl background in Memento tangelo ink.

The card also fits the bill for the AAA Cards Blog challenge too !

I used an orange and grey alcohol ink marker to colour in parts of the geese as shown and finished with the words stamped in Versafine black.

Desk Frenzy ?

Ohh my God !!  The shambles that is my workdesk this Wednesday.  Just as it was abandoned following my last craft session.

How untidy is that ?  I should be ashamed but it's always like this actually.

Any way it's a while since I showed it and it's also worth having a look at others desks along on WOYWW blog.  This one is for week 301. Quite entertaining !
